KATHMANDU: Broadlink Network and Communications Pvt Ltd has launched the next generation Wi-Fi service, making Kathmandu Wireless-Enabled. They have also launched an Internet-based telephony service called Broadtel for home and enterprise customers in Nepal.
The services will be launched from November 1 in Kathmandu, Butwal, Pokhara and Hetauda via 125 powerful antennas placed at strategic locations in the respective cities. “Broadlink wi-fi Internet services make Internet more accessible with little or no investment in installations and devices.
They can be accessed with built-in wi-fi cards which are already a standard in laptops and mobile phones,” said Ravi Shankar Ghosh, head for business development. Customers using desktops can access the Internet by using Broadlink Wireless USB Dongles which are readily available and can be purchased at Broadlink corporate office or their distributors.
“The Internet packages of Broadlink has been designed to suit the customers where they do not need a fixed speed or duration, by simply purchasing prepaid vouchers to access the service,” added Ghosh. Users have the liberty to increase or decrease the bandwidth speed as well as the duration of the Internet plan by logging onto the service website.
Broadtel on the other hand is Broadlink’s Internet voice service for making international calls and is available through IP phones, soft-phones and Mobile Dialers, “Customers will be able to make international calls via their mobile phones at an affordable cost with voice clarity. This service can be accessed using laptops and desktops as well,” said Ghosh.
Broadlink has over 300 outlets currently and prepaid cards will be easily available at any place. “This is our effort to make the city wi-fi-enabled and will strive each day to improve our customer services and initiate new and innovative services with time.” Added Ghosh.
Laptop and mobile users can search for the Broadlink wireless towers in their areas and connect to it. On successful connection, users will be prompted with a page for access while desktop users have access to dongles to connect to the Internet.
