Saudi Arabian Prince to invest in tourism, air service

KATHMANDU: Visiting Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal and the high-level officials of the government held a discussion on the possible sectors of investment in Nepal.

Participating in the discussion meeting with Prince Talal were the ministers including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala and the respective ministry secretaries.

The meeting also discussed about the establishment of Saudi Arabian embassy in Nepal.

Talking to media persons following the meeting, Prince Talal informed that the meeting discussed on investing in the sectors of tourism and air service in Nepal. Prince Talal is the world's 19th richest person in the world.

At the meeting held at the Yak and Yeti Hotel, Deputy Prime Minister Koirala, Finance Minister Surendra Pandey, Minister for Information and Communications Shankar Pokharel, Minister for Energy Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat, Minister for Federal Affairs, Constituent Assembly, Parliamentary Affairs and Culture Dr Minendra Rijal and Minister for Labour and Transport Management, Mohamad Aftab Alam and the secretaries of the respective ministries were present.

The Nepali delegation expressed gratitude to the Saudi government for providing labour market to Nepali workers there. The Government of Saudi Arabia has also been urged to invest in the sectors of tourism in Nepal.

Information Minister Pokharel informed that no formal agreement was reached between Nepal and Saudi Arabia as the visit of Prince Talal was very personal. However, this visit would contribute a lot to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries, he said.
