Journo's fingers sliced open

DHANGADI, Nov 16: A journalist bringing out a newspaper in the rural area of Kailali district has had his fingers of both the hands sliced by blade for writing news.

Sushil Dhungana, publisher of Ghodaghodi Sandesh weekly, was abducted by five persons on motorcycles from Naya Bazar of Sadhepani while returning to Sukkhad from Sadhepani and taken to jungle.

“You have become a big journalist. Now you will enjoy,” Dhungel quoted the men as saying before thrashing him and slicing his fingers.

He had published a news on Sunday highlighting the increasing smuggling and corruption in the district.

NC worker stabbed to death

BARDIYA: A local Nepali Congress worker, who was stabbed with a knife, succumbed to death here Tuesday while undergoing treatment at a Nepalgunj hospital.

According to police, NC regional treasurer Dal Bahadur Gurung was attacked with a knife on Monday night by a local man who was under the effect of narcotic drugs. Gurung was stabbed four times in the head while he was heading home on his motorcycle.

Family of the victim and locals closed Gulariya-Kothighat road and businesses to protest the killing.

Police have arrested four persons in connection with the killing and started investigation. Among them, Bijaya BK and Dhiraj Chaudhari were allegedly involved in the incident, police said.
