Maoists' ultra-leftist provocation: UML gen-secy

REPUBLICA

CHITWAN, Nov 20: CPN-UML general secretary Iswor Pokhrel said that yesterday´s incident in the Legislature-Parliament was the outcome of immaturity and ultra-leftist provocation of UCPN (Maoist).

At a program organized by the Press Chautari Saturday, leader Pokhrel further said the Maoists´ activities in the parliament has insulted the democratic system.

General Secretary Pokhrel urged the Speaker to immediately take action against the Maoist lawmaker who manhandled the Finance Minister.

"The incident is condemnable, strong action should be taken and investigation is a must," he added.

He termed the indecent manner of the Maoists as the hangover of wartime for pouncing on the Finance Ministry by not seeing any measure to protest the budget.

The Maoist act carried out at a time when efforts were being made for consensus has put the cooperation at risk, he said, adding the UML is still ready to forge consensus if Maoists come up with sincerity.

The Maoists´ act of tearing the document they signed earlier makes clear that they are not committed towards peace and constitution, he commented.
