KATHMANDU: Five garbage bins stationed at Maitighar and Minbh-awan by Kathmandu Metropolitan City have been stolen this week.

According to KMC, a total of 150 bins had been placed at Hanumandhoka Durbar Square, Office of the Prime Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, City Hall, Airport-Koteshwor and Maitighar-Tinkune road section in a bid to keep the city clean. “Three garbage bins from Maitighar area and two from Minbhawan area have been stolen,” said Rabin Man Shrestha, deputy chief at the Environment Management Department, KMC. “The bins have been instrumental in lessening garbage on the streets and keeping the city clean.” Shrestha informed that China had donated 4,000 garbage bins to place at different spots of the metropolis. “We will gradually install them in those places,” said Shrestha.
