Amendment Bill registered

KATHMANDU: The government on Wednesday registered a Bill to make eighth amendment to the interim constitution to allow the caretaker government to table the budget. A cabinet meeting on Wednesday had decided to register the Bill. The meeting also decided to forward a request to President Dr Ram Baran Yadav to remove the constitutional difficulties as the government ‘is unable to follow all the procedures’ for tabling the budget. The parliament is scheduled to amend the Bill on Friday and following the amendment, the government will table the budget on the same day. The government made a formal request to the president to this effect on Wednesday evening, the president sent it back to the government seeking some corrections, according to sources. The proposed Bill seeks addition of a clause in the Article 96 (A).
