11,000 Nepali students left for US

KATHMANDU: The Education and Culture Bureau at the US Department of State has said as many as 11,233 Nepali students went to the US for higher studies in the year 2009/010.

According to an annual report published by the Bureau, the number of Nepali students going to the US for higher studies last year was 11,581.

Nepal ranks in the 11th among the countries sending students to the US for abroad study.

The Bureau added that the number of Chinese students enrolled in the US universities and colleges increased by 30 percent thereby reaching the maximum, some 128,000 this year.

Similarly, India is the second country to have its students joining US universities for higher education. Some 105,000 students from India are studying in the US now which increased by 2 percent as compared to the last year.

Due to clear and factual information to the Nepali students about higher education in the US, it is still on the best choices of Nepali students, stated the release.
