House scenes unfortunate but normal: Dahal

THT Online

KATHMANDU: UCPN-Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Saturday called on President Dr Ram Baran Yadav at the latter's official residence in Shital Niwas to discuss the incident in which Maoist lawmakers roughed up Finance Minister Surendra Pandey while he was about to table the fiscal budget at the Legislature-Parliament in Singh Durbar Friday night.

At the meeting, President Yadav expressed his concerns about the unruly acts that took place at parliament. On the occasion, the Maoist chairman apprised the President of the incident and described it as unfortunate. He however insisted that such an event is a normal part of parliamentary practice in democratic countries.

On Friday night, the Maoist lawmakers obstructed Minister Pandey while he was getting to the rostrum in the Legislature Parliament and snatched the briefcase containing copies of the annual budget that he was carrying. Though agreed earlier, the fiscal budget could not be presented during the House session due to Maoist obstructions.
