TAHARI: All private educational institutions of Dharan and Sunsari have been shut down on Friday to protest the abduction and subsequent murder of Raj Acharya, a third grader student of Sagarmatha Boarding School.
The protest is called by the PABSON and the NPABSON, the school owners’ bodies, demanding proper security to the students, a due compensation to the bereaved family and a stern action against the guilty.
Different school owners are organising protest programmes including taking out rallies and picketing the District Administration Office of Sunsari for two hours today to pile pressure on the government to meet their demands.
An unidentified gang had kidnapped Acharya, 9, at 9: 30 am while on his way to school and subsequently found murdered in the Hariyali community forest area at 11:00 am.
Apparently, the murderers had suffocated him to death by putting his shirt into his mouth and strangulating him with his tie. There were traces of multiple injuries at his various body parts including in his eye and scalp.
It is revealed during police investigation that about four persons were involved in the murder. A suspect, Pratik Keshar Jha, 16, the deceased’s neighbour, has been arrested in connection with the murder.
Acting on the information provided by Jha, the police have taken into custody 13 others for further investigation, according to police inspector Keshav Bhattarai of the Area Police Office, Dharan.
