KATHMANDU: The Natural Resources Committee of the Legislature-Parliament on Monday sought information from the secretaries of five ministries directly related to the sand and pebble excavation and export regarding the status of the implementation of the Supreme Court's order in that connection.

The secretaries at the Ministries of Home Affairs, Physical Planning and Works, Labour and Transport Management, Local Development and Environment informed the meeting of the Directives Implementation Monitoring Sub-committee of the Natural Resources Committee today regarding the works carried out by their respective ministries regarding the directives of the Supreme Court and the Committee.

They informed that legally, the export of these resources has been stopped, action has been taken against vehicles carrying sand, pebble and stones exceeding the fixed amount and the monitoring and patrolling has been made effective with coordination with the local bodies.

The secretaries said although information has been received regarding the smuggling of these construction materials to India has been received, the same has not been totally checked due to limited resources.
