UNMIN organized a special function at its office at BICC Complex, New Baneshwar, to formally announce closure of its office in Nepal.

The special political mission of UN was established in response to the letter to the UN secretary general sent on August 9, 2006 in which the then Seven-Party Alliance Government and the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) requested United Nations´ assistance in creating a free and fair atmosphere for the election to the Constituent Assembly and the entire peace process.
