An alternative for Dahal will be found: Yami

REPUBLICA

Kathmandu, Jan 30: UCPN Maoist politburo member Hisila Yami said that an alternative will be found for the party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal for prime ministerial candidate. Speaking at Reporter’s Club, Yami said that other parties too should look for alternatives for their prime ministerial candidates.

“If all parties don’t name alternative candidates it will be difficult to come to a consensus. An individual is more important than a party in the process of building peace and constitution. Therefore alternatives should be put forward.”

She said if Dahal’s candidacy isn’t accepted by all the parties, alternatives will be given in the form Vice chairman Dr Babu Ram Bhattarai and general secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa. Emphasizing that consensus among all the political parties is needed to write to constitution; therefore the alternatives should be acceptable to all.

She said, since UCPN Maoist is the largest political party, the new government should be headed by the Maoist to make the process of building peace and constitution easy. If majority government is not headed by the Maoist, they will not support any other parties and will stand in opposition.
