Saudi envoy recalled

KATHMANDU: Cabinet meeting decided on Tuesday to call back beleaguered Nepali ambassador to Saudi Arabia Hamid Ansari, saying his continuance will only sully the country’s image. According to the Prem Bahadur Singh, Minister for Law and Justice, the cabinet meeting held at the at the residence of Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal took the decision to recall Ansari. Ansari has been accused of transferring compensation money meant for three Nepali citizens to his personal bank account. Family of Ramesh Subedi, who was killed in Saudi Arabia, has alleged that the envoy pocketed the insurance money meant for Subedi’s kin.
