Cabinet decides to construct Naubise-Nagdhunga tunnel

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Council of Ministers on Thursday appealed to the political parties, civil society and the general public to extend support in writing the constitution and concluding the peace process in time.

Similarly, the meeting urged all political parties to join the government in order to work together to carry out the historic responsibilities of constitution-writing and concluding of the peace process.

The meeting also thanked all the concerned including the Constituent Assembly members and the political parties for the formation of the government and paid tribute to all known and known martyrs of various democratic movements in the country.

Moreover, Minister without portfolio Ganga Lal Tuladhar has been named as the spokesperson of the government. Spokesperson Tuladhar said discussion was held on the budget. He added that he had not received any signal that that the party in alliance will not join the government.

The tasks of concluding peace process and constitution writing will not be accelerated until other parties were brought into the government, he said, adding that the government will move ahead with the cooperation, consensus and unity.

The government was committed to forging the national consensus, he stressed.

It was also decided that a feasibility study will be carried out on the construction of a tunnel in the section of Naubise-Nagdhunga in order to minimise the traffic congestion.

The estimated cost to construct the tunnel is Rs 2.8 billion.
