Foreign investment to be allowed in infrastructure industry

The government has decided to allow foreign investment companies to invest into service and infrastructure industry.

The Industrial Promotion Board under Ministry of Industries recently took this decision, but which is yet to be approved by cabinet, according to reports.

After the decision in endorsed by the cabinet, any foreign investment companies can pour their bucks into infrastructure and service industry by registering itself in the Department of Industry and Registrar Office.

They will also enjoy leeway to issue IPOs (Initial Public Offerings) as public limited company.

Foreign companies, however, will be barred from carrying out banking operations like collecting deposits.
