Prachanda playing China card: Bijukchhe

KATHMANDU: UCPN-Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s China trip is the foreign rebel leader’s move to affright the southern neighbour India with 'China card' and his ambition to get to the government, Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP) chairman Narayan Man Bijukchhe said on Saturday.

China, however, would never say a particular party should lead the government as it would not interfere in Nepal’s internal affairs, he said.

“Maoist dream of reaching the government through ‘China card’ will not materialise,” he said, arguing that India is familiar with the mannerism of Prachanda and comrades who stayed in India while launching a decade-long armed insurgency in Nepal.

He was speaking at a programme organised by Nepal Shilpakar Samaj here in Bhaktapur.

Currently, the Maoist leader is in a four-day visit to China to take part in the ongoing World Expo in Shanghai.

According to Bijukchhe, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal's resignation on June 30 with no other options left to solve the political crisis has further worsened the situation.

He opined that the amendment of the Interim Constitution would be the only alternative to find a way out of the political impasse if the major parties did not show readiness for the consensus.
