PM's action adds insult to injury of grieving couple

Murder victim Liladhar Bhatta's kin feel not only fate, State too biased against them

MAHENDRANAGAR: When Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal chose to visit Kapil Dwibedi’s family in Nepalgunj two days ago to console them for their son’s killing, Liladhar Bhatta’s parents were wondering why he didn’t pay them a visit. After all, both Kapil and Liladhar were killed after kidnapping by the same gang.

Janaki and Dikerdev Bhatta, parents of 15-year old Liladhar, feel that not only the fate but the State too is biased against them.

They have been taking shelter at their niece Bhuwan’s home in Haldukhal of Bhimdutta Municipality.

No state representative has visited the family though

the PM had visited Kapil Dwibedi’s family in Nepalgunj two days ago.

“I too would have told him about the pain of losing a son, had the PM decided to meet us,” sobbing Janaki told this correspondent. “We had hoped that he would come here as well from Nepalgunj.”

“This government has failed to stop abductions and murders,” said Janaki, hoping that no other mother has to meet her fate.

Sub Inspector Dikerdev, who has been in Nepal Police for nearly three decades, had

rented a room in Nepalgunj for the sake of his son’s studies, though he was posted in Jajarkot.

He has served in the remote districts of mid-western region and is appalled by the government apathy.

Not long ago, his only wish was to retire from service and spend time with his family. After cruel turn of events,he wants the abductors and murderers of his son are subjected to maximum possible punishment.

Liladhar, a student of Grade X, was abducted from Nepalgunj on September 30 with his friend Kapil. He was found dead on October 4.
