Dengue hits Rupandehi, scores affected

RUPANDEHI: Over 40 persons including two medical professionals have been infected with dengue after the disease broke out here in the district.

According to Dr. Laxmi Raj Regmi, dengue symptoms have been seen in more than 40 patients admitted to the Lumbini Nursing Home and Siddhartha Children's and Women's Hospital in Rupandehi.

Dr. Krishna Khanal and Durga Sapkota of Lumbini Zonal Hospital also have contracted the disease.

A team of experts including Dr. Bishwaraj Khanal from the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division, Kathmandu has arrived in the district to assess the situation of the outbreak.

Dengue is a viral fever transmitted to humans through the bites of infective female Aedes mosquitoes.

The symptoms include headache, high fever, nausea, and severe muscle and joints pain.
