KATHMANDU: The UCPN-Maoist on Friday named for now four of its leaders to represent the party in the Jhalanath Khanal-led government, all of whom are said due to assume their respective offices later today.
The Standing Committee meeting of the party held at its central office in Peris Danda this morning, shortlisted for ministerial berths the names of Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Barshaman Pun and Khadga Bahadur Bishwokarma.
As per the decision, Mahara will lead the Maoist team of ministers and will assume the post of deputy prime minister and minister for informationa and communications, while Pun will be entrusted with peace and reconciliation ministry duty.
Likewise, Rayamajhi will hold physical planning ministry, while Bishwokarma will take up civil aviation and tourism ministry. The names of the other Maoist ministers could not be shortlisted in today’s meeting following a row over sharing portfolios among leaders within the party.
Earlier on, a total of 11 ministries were allocated to the party.
