NRB to abolish notes bearing image of former kings

The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has issued a directive to the banks and financial institutions across the country not to transact the notes having image of former kings from mid-March.

The central bank has also urged the public to exchange the notes bearing kings’ images and old torn notes before mid-March from the banks and financial institutions they usually deal with.

The central bank has issued the directive to the banks, financial institutions and public following its previous decision to abolish notes bearing the image of former kings from the market.

NRB has also come up with Clean Note Policy to maintain the proper handling of notes among the banks, financial institution and general public.

The bank also informed that the remaining notes with former kings’ image in the market will not be easily accepted and exchanged after mid-March. nepalnews.com
