Makalu Air plane catches fire in Mugu airport while landing

MUGU: An aircraft of Makalu Airport caught fire while landing at Talcha Airport of Mugu on Monday evening. With eight passengers and two crew members, the 9NAZM plane had took off from Nepalgunj at 4 pm.

Captain PJ Shah and three passengers have been injured in the incident. Preparations are being made to airlift the injured for treatment.

Saguntala Budha and Parshuram Nepali, both of them residents of Roba VDC in the district, have been seriously injured, while the identity of the third person is yet to be known.

According to preliminary information, the aircraft witnessed a brake failure. It skidded off and fell some seven metres down before turn turtling and catching the fire.

Two of the passengers are said to be children. The fire was contained, and the passengers were rescued to a safe place.

Captain Shah has sustained injuries on his right eye.
