The three major parties - UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) - have reasserted their previous agreement to form an expert committee to suggest on state restructuring, and to amend the constitution to replace the provision for State Restructuring Commission (SRC).
In the meeting held at the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction in Singha Durbar Wednesday morning, top leaders of the three parties decided not to make any changes in the draft bill prepared by the government for constitution amendment.
They also turned down the proposal of Maoist vice chairman Mohan Baidya not to give strong mandate to the expert panel.
At the meeting, Baidya argued that the experts committee should not be given the same mandate as an independent commission.
The meeting came ahead of a voting in the parliament on the bill to amend the Interim Constitution to incorporate the provision for the expert committee by replacing the provision for SRC. nepalnews.com
