HIMALAYAN NEWS SERVICE

SALLERI: A Fishtail Air 9N-AIK helicopter with a crew member and a passenger, an Australian, on Tuesday met with an accident at Khumjung in Solukhumbu. There were no casualties though, said Fishtail Air CEO Suman Pandey. The chopper had failed to take off to a hover at Labuche area at around 1 pm. Bishnu Prasad Dhakal of Eco Lodge in Labuche, an eyewitness, said the chopper lost its balance while Captain Dipak Rana was making an attempt to lift off. The chopper was damaged. Another helicopter belonging to Air Dynasty had later rescued Rana and a co-pilot, who was not on board when the incident occurred. The Australian national, however, refused to return via a chopper and decided to trek to Lukla.
