Pascoe arrives for two-day visit

KATHMANDU, Dec 3: B Lynn Pascoe, the United Nations Under-Secretary General for Political Affairs, arrived Kathmandu on Friday morning for a two-day visit.

Pascoe, who had visited Nepal twice previously, said that he would assess if the political parties took decisions in accordance with their promises to UN in connection with peace process.

In a brief remark to media at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Pascoe also said that Nepal’s peace process and other issues were also discussed with Indian leaders along with other regional issues during his India visit.

Pascoe will meet Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Sujata Koirala, DPM Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, members of the Special Committee for Supervision, Integration and Rehabilitation of Maoist Combatants and CPN-UML acting chairman Ashok Rai before meeting with UCPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Friday evening.

On Saturday, he will meet with Nepali Congress president Sushil Koirala and all ambassadors of nations that are permanent members to UN Security Council. He will also individually meet with some of the ambassadors and Indian ambassador Rakesh Sood on Saturday before flying back.
