CHITWAN: US Ambassador to Nepal Scott H. DeLisi inspected the Third Division of Maoist People’s Liberation Army at Shaktikhor of Chitwan district on Sunday.
Spokesperson of the Division Kuber informed that the US envoy met the PLA commanders and inquired about the army integration, departure of the United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) and the former rebels’ daily routine.
He had reached Shaktikhor boarding a chartered helicopter.
According to Kuber, the commanders told Ambassador DeLisi that the integration process would proceed despite UNMIN’s departure.
“Responding to his readiness to help Nepal, we told him that if the support comes from the US as a donor then we will accept it,” he said, “But if that it is going to be imposed from a power house, we are not for it.”
DeLisi is the first foreign American diplomat to visit the PLA's Third Division.
