RUKUM: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha has said that Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal would resign by August 13 if an atmosphere conducive to formation of a national consensus government was established.
He made it clear that there is no alternative to the implementation of five-point deal, adding the incumbent government, however, will continue if significant progresses are made towards peace building and constitution drafting processes.
The first and foremost challenge of the government is peace building and constitution making and it is effortful to that end, the Home Minister further said.
Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha, who arrived here to observe the losses triggered by the landslide that took place in Purtimkanda of Rukum on July 15, said this while talking to journalists.
The government is concerned over the loss of life and property in Purtimkanda and will provide victims with relief, he added.
Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha was accompanied by UCPN-Maoist politburo member duo Janardan Sharma and Hemanta Prakash Oli.
