National govt soon: Dr Bhattarai

KATHMANDU, Aug 14: Vice-chairman of the UCPN (Maoist) Dr Baburam Bhattarai has hinted the possibility of formation of a national consensus government soon.

Taking part in an interaction organised by the Media for Energy Private Limited here on Sunday, Maoist Vice-chairman Dr Bhattarai said that there was no alternative for the parties to forming the government of national consensus so as to conclude the ongoing peace process and the constitution drafting process.


"The parties should give an opportunity to individuals with a clean image to represent the national consensus government", he stressed and urged them to work together by rising above the partisan interests to put the transition to an end.

On the occasion, Energy Minister Gokarna Bista was honoured with the Hydro Nepal Excellence Award-2011. The prize carries a purse of Rs. 15,000 and a letter of appreciation.

Receiving the award, Minister Bista announced to offer the prize money to the Jhamak Kumari Ghimire Foundation by adding an equal sum to it.

Minister Bista underlined the need of reducing poverty and unemployment in the country through the development of the hydro power sector.

The problem of load-shedding facing the country could be minimized by adopting the alternative measures, the Energy Minister added.
