KATHMANDU: The government has made insurance and work permit mandatory for migrant workers, who extended their jobs overseas.
“Every migrant worker should get a new insurance policy and job permission to continue overseas job,” director general of Department of Foreign Employment Chandra Man Shrestha said.
Earlier, the provisions of Foreign Employment Regulation were applied to new overseas workers only. Ministry of Labour and Transport Management changed the provisions last week to provide insurance and other government benefits to all migrant workers.
